Over the Influence – a better approach to addiction treatment

Like any addiction treatment program, to enroll in Over the Influence, you must first successfully detox. Over the Influence providers will manage a safe and comfortable detox or will connect you with local detox resources.

Naltrexone Implant

Naltrexone is a non-addictive opioid antagonist, not an opioid. It blocks the reinforcing pleasure receptors in the brain that respond to opioids and alcohol. While the oral and injectable formulations of naltrexone have been available for decades in the treatment of substance use disorders, patient compliance is a major obstacle. The subcutaneous naltrexone implant overcomes that challenge by ensuring steady and effective levels of naltrexone for a period of many months.

One-on-One Behavioral Counseling

With the constant and intrusive cravings being minimized or blocked in most cases by the naltrexone implant, patients are more successfully able to work on the psychosocial components of their recovery. Behavioral therapy by an experienced drug and alcohol counselor or therapist is a critical element of the Over the Influence program to help you identify and manage triggers, replace destructive thought patterns and modify unhealthy behaviors.

Peer Support

After a period of intensive counseling, a peer tele-mentoring program offers ongoing support for long-term recovery. This convenient resource enables patients adjusting to a drug- or alcohol-free life to check in with someone who has been through a similar experience.

Life Rebalanced

While there is no cure for addiction, successful recovery and long-term sobriety is certainly an attainable goal. With professional and peer assistance, patients are able to rebuild relationships, careers and lives. Within a relatively short period of time, individuals are afforded the opportunity to move forward in health toward lifelong recovery.

You have a disease — it's time to treat it.

We understand that addiction is not simply a failure of will, it is a chronic, progressive disease with both physiological and psychosocial drivers.

How can you possibly overcome the influence of drugs or alcohol when you are faced with nearly constant cravings to use? Maintaining sobriety becomes a realistic goal when you address both the physical urges and the psychosocial triggers of substance dependence.

With the proprietary, non-addictive naltrexone implant at its core, the Over the Influence program creates an extended period of stability to recover from addiction and rebuild your life. Behavioral counseling provides the skills, knowledge, insight, and supportive connections required to achieve lifelong recovery.

A recovery program for those trapped in the addiction cycle

Over the Influence is designed for people who have been unsuccessful in their efforts at maintaining sobriety. They may have tried to overcome their addiction using willpower, multiple episodes of detox and brief sobriety, traditional treatment programs, therapy, counseling or a 12-step program, yet simply have been unable to sustain sobriety.

Over the Influence recognizes that many treatment programs are offered without awareness or acknowledgement of the major underlying physiological factors. Over the Influence addresses the multi-dimensional issues inherent to addiction, including both physiological and psychological factors.

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) — part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) — and its 2006 'COMBINE' study (Combining Medications and Behavioral Interventions for Alcoholism), the best outcomes in naltrexone treatment for alcoholism result from receiving naltrexone along with outpatient behavioral-modification counseling and long-term peer support.

The Over the Influence addiction treatment program is a medication-assisted program. Over the Influence is only available from independent medical professionals and cannot be purchased directly by consumers. Over the Influence is not a cure for addiction and does not work for everyone. Individual results will vary.
